Microblading & PMU FAQ's

DO COSMETIC TATTOOS LAST FOREVER?

All microblading & PMU services at Blush & Ink Beauty are semi-permanent, meaning they will gradually fade over time. The pigment is implanted into the uppermost layers of the skin, whereas actual tattoos enter the lower layers. In order to maintain the integrity of your cosmetic tattoo, color refreshers are necessary (on average) within 12 months of each procedure, but this varies from person to person.

HOW LONG DO COSMETIC TATTOOING APPOINTMENTS TAKE?

Appointment times will vary based on the service. We allot plenty of time to complete proper paperwork and apply topical numbing. The majority of your appointment will be spent determining the size, shape and color of your cosmetic tattoo that is best suited for your personal facial measurements and preferences. Upon completing your service, you will be given detailed aftercare instructions to follow at home. We also recommend scheduling your touch-up or next color refreshing appointment at the conclusion of your service.

DO I NEED TO SCHEDULE A CONSULTATION FIRST?

Consultations are ONLY required if you have had cosmetic tattooing done elsewhere. Please Visit the "Consultation" Section under Microblading & PMU Policies. If you would like to meet us and ask any questions not found on our website before committing to a cosmetic tattoo, please feel free to schedule one!

HOW PAINFUL ARE COSMETIC TATTOOS?

Everyone’s pain threshold is different, but we provide topical numbing before each procedure (and with some services, even a secondary numbing during the procedure) to keep you comfortable! Most clients will feel pressure but no pain, the area may be tender after service.

WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS LIKE?

All skin takes a full 4-6 weeks to fully heal in each of the uppermost layers of your skin, which is why we cannot make touch-up appointments or changes until then. It is completely normal to experience dry skin, flakiness, or scabbing for the first 3-14 days after a cosmetic tattooing procedure. Many results will look very bold and dark for the first few days following your appointment, but will slowly soften as you continue healing. You will not need any downtime before returning to work or attending events.

WHO IS NOT A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR COSMETIC TATTOOING?

You cannot receive a cosmetic tattoo if you are under the age of 18, pregnant or nursing. Some other contraindications are diabetes, autoimmune diseases, skin irritations or diseases (such as eczema or psoriasis), transmittable blood diseases (such as HIV), hemophilia, active skin cancer or undergoing chemotherapy, pacemakers or major heart problems, prone to keloid scarring, epilepsy, high blood pressure, or allergies to pigment. Please feel free to request to view our medical consent forms before booking.

How Long Will the Makeup Last?

The makeup is formulated to be waterproof, sweat resistant and long wearing. Wear time may vary between clients based on skin type but approx. 16 hours. The makeup is not completely smudge proof so scratching or pulling at the makeup will remove it, so be cautious when touching your face throughout the day.

How Long Does it Take to Complete a Full Face?

Time may vary depending on the desired look but typically, a full face can take between 35-45 mins. Bridal looks typically take a full 60 min.

How Many People Can You Accommodate in a Wedding Party?

This will depending on the allotted time frame. Blush & Ink does have a list of trusted Makeup Artist that they can hire on as an additional artist to make sure everyone can be finished in a timely manor. Additional artists will need to be booked in advance and will be subject to a $100 additional artist fee. There is not a guarantee that an additional artist can be provided.

When Should I Book A Pre Wedding Bridal Trial?

The earlier the better! Most brides will try to schedule their trials for engagement sessions, bridal showers or bachelorette parties.

Yes, Blush & Ink has a full kit with products for every skin tone and type. Products are hypoallergenic but please inform the artist of any know allergies before your service. If there are specific products that you would like to use, please review with the artist before your service as some products may not be appropriate for photography purposes.
